I’m so excited to share my newest commission! I had the privilege of creating this piece for a dear friend, who gave it to a family very special to her. This couple was celebrating their 20th wedding anniversary and she wanted to honor their relationship in a unique and special way. The first step was to collage papers and family photos onto the canvas to create the start of the background.

Next, I began adding the layers. I started with more collage elements including paper and fabric. Then I added textures with acrylic paint and continued building up layers with stenciling, paint pens and cheese cloth.

After building up several layers, I started constructing the sunflowers with colors from magazine pages. I added depth to the flowers to make them stand out more. Then I included words that describe family within the flower petals.
