The past year has been full of big changes for my family and me. After 13 years of being out of the classroom, I went back to teaching art full time. I was blessed to be offered a job teaching at a great Middle School, with an amazing staff, in a wonderful district. It was a tough first year back with long hours, new challenges and a very different schedule adjustment, but it was also incredibly rewarding getting to know new colleagues and my amazing students as well as being able to share my passion for art with them. I especially love this middle school age; these young adults are at such a unique and important time in their lives. I'm blessed to be able to come alongside them and hopefully make a positive difference in their lives.
We had so much fun this past year exploring different art mediums, techniques, concepts and ideas. I shared with my students drawing, painting, mixed media, oil and chalk pastels, collage, and clay. They experienced portraiture, realistic drawing from observation, color theory, value, one and two point perspective, 3D sculpture, architecture and so much more! Here are some examples of my students extraordinary artwork:
Portraiture
Mixed Media
Clay Sculpture
Oil Pastel
One And Two Point Perspective
Blackout Poetry

Painted Ceiling Tiles: It's a tradition at my school that the final project of the year is painting ceiling tiles that are placed around the building. The kids look forward to designing, executing and leaving this project as their legacy all year long!
That's just a peek at the amazing art my students created last year!! We had the opportunity to show off the talent at our Art Show in the spring.
It was truly an incredible year! While I'm loving finding time to get a few home projects done, spending time with my family, resting, and creating some of my own personal art this summer, back to school is quickly approaching and I'm excited to get ready for a new school year!!
